Why Chemistry (not fashion) drives our designs
When I started Purse & Clutch, I thought my degree in Chemistry would be a disadvantage in the world of fashion.
But as it turns out, not being formally trained in design is one of the best things for our brand.
Why? Because it means I have to lean on you.
Your feedback, ideas, and preferences shape what we create. Every design we bring to life is inspired by what our community tells us they want—and that collaboration is what makes our bags truly special.
I’ve always felt like while each of our handbag styles stands on it’s own as a gorgeous & practical bag, together the collection feels a bit pieced together…
…because it WAS pieced together!
As you may have heard, I’ve got big things planned for this year including overhauling our original collection & even leading a trip to Ethiopia to visit the artisans in September - PS, you’re invited to join me!
With this collection up-leveling, I’m going to be working with my dream designer, a woman who has extensive work designing for small leather workshops & is going to help really create a cohesive collection that will allow us to multiply our impact as we continue to hire more artisans to keep up with the demand.
