As my friend Liz said, "Who you surround yourself with matters."
This week I went to North Carolina for the first time & was really excited for the break from the Austin heat.
I thought it would be nice to do our Mastermind trainings in person & knew it would be nice to step away from my mom duties for a few days.
What I didn't expect was how it would feel to be surrounded by smart, kind businesswomen who shared my values.
Wow.
For example, on Monday I announced in a few Down syndrome parent groups on Facebook that we were launching a line of custom embossed handbags for Down Syndrome Awareness Month.
My assumption would be that other moms who are lucky enough to have a kid with Down syndrome would be excited to have a bag that showed off their pride.
I shared my excitement with a few women in the group & they expressed interest in buying a bag with the Down syndrome embossed detail because they feel part of my journey.
I'm literally tearing up as I write this in the waiting room of my daughter Paige's weekly Occupational Therapy appointment because I felt so seen & so supported.
I've been running Purse & Clutch for 12 years now and it's been this year with this group of women that I've been able to really soar & expand our impact around the world through fair wage employment exponentially.
So wherever you are. In work. In life. In your current challenges.
Find your community & do the work to keep that community thriving.
And if you're interested in preordering a custom handbag for Down Syndrome Awareness Month, the deadline to preorder is tomorrow!
