The Thoughtful & The Experiential

The Thoughtful & The Experiential

I was in the locker room at my gym a few weeks ago, lugging my workout clothes in a paper grocery bag.

My friend saw it & burst out laughing. “Wait… don’t you own a handbag company?” she asked, eyeing my sad excuse for a bag.

No, this isn’t an announcement that we’re launching a gym bag—though that would be fun! After a bit of research, I realized leather wasn’t the best material for the job, but I did decide that I needed a better solution than a paper bag.

At first, I thought about grabbing a quick “it’ll do” bag online, but then it hit me: if this was going to be the only gym bag I’d ever buy again, it needed to be perfect.

The size, the color, the shape—it all had to be just right.

After a slightly embarrassing number of text exchanges with a friend, I found the one: a smaller-than-average Kelly green bag from a fellow B-Corp.

Living in a small house, I’ve learned that I have to be very intentional about what comes into our home.

It’s not just about buying less; it’s about choosing things or experiences that truly matter.

And it definitely takes more time, research & creativity.

One year, I asked my family to gift my then six-year-old an ice cream date with them - which they all loved. Another time I gave my daughter a camping trip for her birthday

As I’m gearing up for our September trip to Ethiopia to meet our talented artisans & experience the richness of Ethiopian culture, the conversations on the initial interest calls has turned several times to how a once-in-a-lifetime trip like this is what they really want for a Christmas.

Some of you are asking your families to contribute to the trip as your holiday gift—and I absolutely love that idea!

If this sounds like something that’s right up your alley, let’s chat.

I’d love to walk you through the details & help you decide if this trip is right for you.

Click here to book a quick interest call—we’ll talk logistics, answer your questions, & get excited about this incredible adventure together.

Early Birds get an extra fun bonus: pick any bag from either of our Ethiopia collections & watch the whole process of it being made just for you!

The Early Bird deadline is January 15th.

In the mean time, I’d love to hear your creative gifting ideas - both the thoughtful & the experiential. All replies go directly to me!

xoxo,
