'merica!
Between Independence Day just around the corner & the US team advancing in the World Cup, I find that putting together numerous red, white, & blue outfits that are patriotic without being TOO literal has proven to be quite the wardrobe challenge.
Keep it Simple, Focus on the Details
I enlisted one of the most stylish gals I know, Candice of Oh Fox Creative to help out by asking her to model her favorite USA outfit. I love the simplicity of a solid navy dress mixed with a pop of red sandals & the subtlety her lovely red hair brings as part of the outfit.
Don't be afraid to try a new combination
I got my blouse at a garage sale in Tyler that my mom puts on each year a few years ago & never thought to mix it with this skirt my mother-in-law passed down to me until today. I was actually in the middle of two other outfits - I was trying this top with a navy skirt & was about to pair a floral navy top with the white skirt when I decided that I liked the look.
I added in a subtle pop of red on the lips & grabbed one of my favorite totes to bring in a big block of navy to break up the white. (And these totes are on sale for 20% off through today with checkout code "SummerSale" - FYI.)
I guess the red lip turned out a bit more on the pink side, but you get the idea!
How do you add in a patriotic flare without going too literal?
