One LBD, Three Looks
The older I get, the more I'm focusing more on building a quality, intentional wardrobe. I'm looking for classic pieces that express my style and are made from natural materials. I really love the idea of multifunctional pieces to kill two birds with one stone so to speak.
I ran across Nora from That One Dress on Twitter and invited her to write a guest post for us to introduce us to her new line in her online shop. She has such a great take on the classic LBD, we didn't want you to miss out on!
Have you ever wanted your little black dress to transform into different styled dresses? That is the idea behind that one dress, creating multi-wear pieces that you can love over and over again. In the spirit of the New Year, this is the first proper blog post that I am writing. To make this an even more special blog post in a sense, I am joining forces with Jen from Purse & Clutch to help you find an all-round great outfit.
So to get started, here is the new that one little black dress that I have been working on. A continuation of the sleeveless version some may be familiar with, this dress can be worn in three different ways and is made from super soft bamboo jersey. Boasting an ethical title for its fast growing, pesticide-free, soil stabilizing, high yield and low water requiring growth cycle, bamboo is a sustainable fabric. Along with being an incredibly soft and smooth fabric to wear, bamboo is also known for its absorption and thermal control properties. Add anti-bacterial and anti-static to the long list and we are left with a very versatile and comfortable material to create dresses with. The bamboo jersey used in these dresses also has a 7% elastane content allowing for a good amount of stretch.
The stretch of the fabric combined by the special dress design enables this piece to transform into three different looks. Keeping with a classic cut, the dress can be worn with a covered front and draped back, with the top line skimming over the collarbones delicately while the slim shoulder seams complete with bra catchers help create an open feminine neckline. As the soft bamboo fabric drapes beautifully, this easily creates a draped back to show off the upper back and shoulder bones. The drape can also be reversed to have a feminine front drape to show off the collarbones fully whilst covering the back. The dress can also be worn off the shoulders, allowing for longer sleeves. The fit of the dress is slightly loose so that the fabric delicately skims over the curves. This design is available in three different lengths - mini, midi and maxi. As always, each dress is designed and handmade in my studio in Hampshire, UK. Prices start at £30 (about $40 USD) for mini dresses in the current special sale.
The three different ways of wearing this one dress allows for even more styling options, especially when it comes to accessorizing with these suggested Purse & Clutch bags!
Thanks, Nora! We'd pair the beautiful maxi length dress with our mint Ikat tote to add a fun pop of color and keep the casual feel of the outfit.
I love matching the midi length dress with our paisley Block Print Clutch to contrast the solid black with a fun print.
And then for the mini dress, we'd love to see it paired with our Fold Over Clutch in Purple to accentuate the color block look.
We'd love to hear about how you like to accessorize your little black dress in the comments below!
